Sunburst Electronics is an electronics contract manufacturer providing printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) services from 420 East Bayfront Parkway, Erie, Pennsylvania. We assemble SMT, through-hole, BGA, micro-BGA, and mixed-technology boards on rigid, flex, and rigid-flex substrates for commercial, medical, industrial, defense, aerospace, consumer electronics, ag-tech, and data center OEMs. AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified. ITAR registered. IPC-A-610 Class 2 and Class 3.
Whatever your industry and whatever your volume, you get the same certified processes, the same disciplined quality system, and the same team that has been delivering reliable electronics assemblies for nearly 50 years. We support low to high volume production and offer both turnkey and consignment programs.

Sunburst is more than a PCB assembly partner: we are an extension of your engineering and operations team, built to scale with your program from first prototype to sustained production.
Turnkey PCB Assembly: We manage component sourcing from franchised distributors, assembly, inspection, testing, and delivery under a single quality record.
SMT and Advanced Process Expertise: High-speed automated SMT placement supports component sizes down to 01005, fine-pitch BGAs, micro-BGAs, and dense double-sided designs. Dedicated prototype SMT line for NPI programs.
Quality at Every Step: We build to IPC-A-610 Class 2 and Class 3, hold IPC-J-STD-001 solder qualification and IPC 7711/7721 rework certification, and operate under AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems. UL certified program. CSA ID 4546481.
Turnkey PCB Manufacturing: From material sourcing to final shipment, we manage the entire process.
SMT Manufacturing Expertise: Our advanced surface mount technology equipment supports dense component layouts and fine-pitch assemblies.
Quality at Every Step: We follow IPC standards, ITAR compliance, and strict quality protocols to meet regulatory and industry demands.

No two programs are alike. Our PCB assembly process is built to be flexible, traceable, and detail-oriented: from the first DFM review through final shipment.
We source components from franchised distributors and manage supply chain challenges including long lead times, component obsolescence, and last-time buys. Full traceability from receipt of components through shipment of finished assemblies. BOM analysis and alternate part qualification available.
Our SMT lines support high-density, double-sided, and complex mixed-technology designs. Automated placement handles component sizes down to 01005 imperial, fine-pitch devices, BGAs, and micro-BGAs. Reflow solder with both leaded and RoHS-compliant profiles. A dedicated prototype SMT line handles NPI builds without disrupting production schedules.
In addition to SMT, we support through-hole, selective solder, wave solder, hand solder, and mixed-technology assemblies for projects requiring mechanical durability, high current capacity, or connector integration. Both DI water wash and no-clean flux processes available. Leaded and RoHS-compliant solder options.
No assembly leaves our facility without rigorous validation. Performance and reliability are non-negotiable in aerospace, medical, defense, and industrial applications — and our multi-layered inspection and test program reflects that.
Our testing and inspection program includes:
1. Automated Optical Inspection (AOI): placement, polarity, and solder paste verified on every board
2. X-ray Inspection: BGA and micro-BGA solder joint verification, non-destructive
3. In-Circuit Testing (ICT): component values, orientation, and circuit continuity
4. Functional Testing: real-world electrical performance against your acceptance test procedure
5. Environmental Stress Screening (ESS): burn-in cycling and vibration to expose latent defects before shipment
6. First Article Inspection (FAI): full documented verification before production release
We thrive in complexity and regulated environments. Our specialized PCB assembly capabilities span demanding industries where quality escapes are not an option:
Many clients choose Sunburst for both PCB assembly and full box build integration. This integrated approach means fewer vendor handoffs, one quality system, one traceability chain, and faster delivery. From PCBAs and cable harnesses to power supplies and enclosures, we manufacture every sub-assembly in-house before integrating it into the final system: no outsourcing, no documentation gaps.

When you partner with Sunburst, you are choosing more than a PCB assembly manufacturer. You are choosing a team that has been building reliable electronics since 1976 and values your program's success as much as you do.
At Sunburst, we take pride in being a trusted electronics contract manufacturer for companies that demand quality, flexibility, and speed. From prototype PCB assembly through sustained production, we deliver the precision you expect and the reliability you need — every board, every time.
