Sunburst Electronics' RoHS Transition Program
Sunburst Electronics offers its customers the following services to manage RoHS transition:
1. Identification of compliant and non-compliant components on existing BOMs
Sunburst confirms part numbers and corresponding manufacturers in order to determine if components are RoHS compliant.
2. Location of alternative, compliant components
We research manufacturer databases, as well as other sources, to determine compliant alternatives for existing, non-compliant parts (if available).
3. Strategy development for maximizing inventory use
4. Gathering relevant manufacturing data to support the selection of compliant components
Sunburst collects appropriate datasheets for compliant parts on BOMs and organizes them by board. We generate summary sheets for each board, which include the following data per line item:
- Compliance status of component
- Availability of a RoHS-compliant alternative
- Part number for the compliant alternative
- Lead time for delivery of the compliant alternative
- Manufacturer's certification for RoHS compliant parts
When parts are classified as obsolete, Sunburst identifies compliant replacement parts (if available) and also provides redesign requirements when necessary.
Sunburst's Lead-Free Production Capabilities
Sunburst Electronics is a RoHS-compliant electronic contract manufacturer. To produce lead-free electronic controls and meet the higher temperature demands of lead-free solder compounds, we utilize an Electrovert OmniExcel 7 Solder Reflow Oven (with seven chambers) and an Electrovert Speedline Wave Solder machine, best-in-class brands produced by Massachusetts-based, Speedline Technologies.
Our solder reflow oven minimizes thermal stress on electronic parts through a gradual, chamber-to-chamber heating process.
