News and Awards NEWS RELEASE Sunburst Electronics recently fulfilled requirements to become a J-STD-001 facility - permitting the company to expand services to the military and other high-reliability electronics markets (aerospace, medical equipment and telecommunications, for instance). An internationally recognized credential and industry standard, J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies) is being referenced on many high-reliability, U.S. Department of Defense contracts and is often required for manufacturing electronic controls with (expected) minimal failure rates and field lifetimes of ten to 25 years. "Sunburst Electronics' attainment of J-STD-001 certifications represents a milestone that is key to growing our high-reliability client base. We have witnessed unprecedented growth (averaging 15 percent annually) over the last six years and anticipate that our J-STD-001 facility designation will put us on an even stronger growth track. Most importantly, our customers can be confident that their products will be manufactured using J-STD-001 standards spanning defect and process control, inspection methodology and process verification inspection," said Dennis Cantoni, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sunburst Electronics. With a certified J-STD-001 instructor on staff, Sunburst Electronics is now equipped to train and certify employees to the J-STD-001, as well as offer them IPC-issued certifications. NEWS RELEASE- New Equipment; Sunburst Electronics is pleased to announce the addition of new equipment to support the RoHS lead free inititive. Brief descriptions of our new equipment additions are as follows: WAVE SOLDERING: The ELECTROVERT EPK PLUS machine has been optimized for the lead free process. Its Capabilities include handling complex and high density PC boards up to 16" wide. The wave has 6 feet of pre-heat to ensure proper board pre-heating and maintaining required solder contact time. For under-board component soldering, the machine has a rotary chip wave which assures solder contact. All profile settings are tailored to the specific assembly and a log file maintains a record of all system errors or deviations from the settings. The external spray guaranties total flux coverage including through-hole. REFLOW OVEN: The ELECTROVERT OMNI-EXCEL 7 oven is lead-free precess ready with its high efficiency heat transfer, exceptional zone to zone heat separation, and a 350 C processing capability. The oven has 7 heating zones and two cooling zones with 22" wide board processing area. All blowers are closed loop and can be adjusted to maximize the greater demands - smaller precess windows for lead free SMT assemblies. AMCON - Cleveland Sunburst will be attending the AMCON show (American Contract Manufacturers) in Cleveland, Ohio, November 8th and 9th of 2006. We will be at Booth # 102.
